Productions in Print

A Show is a Moment In Time. A PIP is Forever!

What is a PIP?

Does your production end when the final curtain comes down? It doesn’t have to. Welcome to PIP, Productions In Print. A PIP is a perfect bound book. It contains the production script, essays from the creative team, cast and crew information, reviews and production photos.

Create PIPs for all of your productions and feature these beautiful books at your theatre and online, providing an afterlife for your productions and as an ongoing revenue stream. The PIP is also a marvelous outreach & fundraising tool, as well as a promotional vehicle for the playwright.

The idea of selling the script of the current play on stage in the lobby of the theater is not a new one. This is done frequently in theaters in London but why not here in America? Who says the Brits are more literary? Well, maybe. At any rate, Smith and Kraus, inspired by the London theater, decided to upgrade the script and give it an American twist…by adding photos, essays and any kind of ancillary material to the script to make the book more complete and interesting.

We launched our first PIP at the Washington DC Shakespeare theater with DAVID IVES’ lively, witty, very funny adaptation of Pierre Corneille’s THE LIAR. The PIP was a huge success and sold over 1200 copies in it’s 6 week run!

Pips are being sold at theaters across the country including, Center Theatre Group, Circle in the Square, Dorset Theater Festival, Company One Theatre, Goodman Theater, McCarter Theater, New Jersey Repertory Theater, Northern Stage, Playwrights Horizons, Roundabout Theater Co., Shakespeare Theatre Co., Studio Theater, University of Delaware Rep and many more!
